British wealth manager Brewin Dolphin has appointed Sarah Houlston as its new COO, replacing Grant Parkinson who has held the role since joining the firm in 2017.
At present, Houlston is the firm’s head of Change and Transformation.
She will assume the new responsibility of Brewin Dolphin COO on 1 October 2020 after the departure of Grant, which will be effective at the end of this September.
As COO, Houlston will manage the operations departments covering Business Support, Change Delivery, Dealing, Information Technology, Premises and Facilities Management.
Brewin Dolphin CEO David Nicol said: “Sarah has a successful thirty-year career driving large-scale change and technology projects and managing and inspiring large operations teams, so we’re very glad to have such a talented internal candidate that can step into Grant’s shoes.”
Houlston has been working at Brewin Dolphin since February 2018.

She played a key role in replacing the client management system and the core custody and settlement system.
Houlston noted: “The projects we are currently completing will enable us to enhance the experience we provide for our clients and improve the efficiency of our business.”
At the same time, she was integral in Brewin Dolphin Ireland’s integration with the Irish wealth management operations of Investec.
Previously, she worked for 29 years at RBS and was director of Banking Operations for the Future Williams & Glyn.
Parkinson former roles include the COO of Coutts and COO of International Private Banking at Barclays Wealth.
