BNP Paribas has launched a new growth strategy for private banking and wealth management in Italy and named Elena Goitini as the head of the business.

In addition, the bank looks to hire other Italian private bankers to bolster its presence in Italy.

Goitini joins BNL-BNP Paribas Private Banking & Wealth Management from Unicredit Group.

She has previously served in key roles at Unicredit in Italy and Central Eastern Europe.

BNP Paribas Wealth Management co-CEO Sofia Merlo said: “To benefit from the expansion of the Italian market, where our assets under management have grown 60% between 2012 and 2019, we want to accelerate our growth in Wealth Management and Private Banking across all regions – and in particular in the North of Italy. Our focus includes all client segments, enhancing our synergies with the other divisions of the group.”
