BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNP Paribas AM) has named Maya Bhandari as its new global head of multi-asset, effective 1 November 2021.
Bhandari, who will be based in London, will work under BNP Paribas AM Multi-Asset, Quantitative & Solutions CIO Denis Panel.
In her new role, Bhandari will focus on boosting the division’s investment process and delivering consistent returns for clients.
She will also contribute to the firm’s thought leadership and fundamental research.
Commenting on the deal, Panel said: “Maya is a well-recognised multi-asset portfolio manager, and brings a wealth of expertise in cross asset investing, with a clear and consistent approach that has delivered strong returns to investors across a range of strategies and periods.
“She has a positive approach to thought leadership, team management, and diversity & inclusion, which is an important cultural fit, as well as to ESG, which will enable its further integration within our portfolios.”
Bhandari is joining BNP Paribas AM from Columbia Threadneedle Investments (CTI). As executive director of the CTI’s Multi-Asset Portfolio business, she managed a range of diversified growth, multi-asset income and institutional mandates.
Prior to that, she was director of Global Macro & Asset Allocation at Citigroup.
In April this year, BNP Paribas AM hired Alex Bernhardt to serve as the global head of Sustainability Research within its Sustainability Centre.
In March, the firm announced the launch of an open architecture, sub-advisory platform, dubbed AMSelect, that integrates the firm’s investment guidelines and sustainability requirements.
The platform is managed by Multi-Asset, Quantitative & Solutions investment division of the firm.
