Blackstone revealed that private equity funds and vehicles controlled by Blackstone intend to make a tender offer for Infocom’s, a distributor of digital comics, common stock.
This is the largest private equity deal disclosed in Japan this year, as well as Blackstone’s largest investment in the market to date from Private Equity and the team’s third investment disclosed in the last six months, demonstrating a strong commitment to the market.
Infocom’s Mecha Comic is one of Japan’s online comics providers and significant among Japanese women aged 30 and up.
Jun Kuroda, president & chief executive officer, Infocom, stated: “Infocom’s robust e-comics business is the driving force behind our growth, and our IT services business for hospitals and general companies is also working to expand the services we provide and strengthen our customer base. We are confident that Blackstone’s investment track record, outstanding data analysis capabilities, and track record of alliance with a variety of companies will be a major source of strength for our group’s medium- to long-term growth.”
The team has made three launches in the last six months, including an investment in Sony Payment Services and a scheduled tender offer for I’rom Group.
Blackstone has a wealth of knowledge in the IT services and digital content industries. In Asia Pacific, it has invested in over ten IT services and technology-enabled enterprises, namely primary digital service providers R Systems and MphasiS.

Nestled on 1,300 acres on O’ahu’s North Shore, Turtle Bay Resort is home to 450 rooms and offers a range of luxurious amenities, making it one of the region’s significant employers.
The Resort, which is owned by Blackstone, underwent a complete refurbishment that included new club lounge, building systems, lobby, restaurants, retail, spa, guestrooms and bungalows, pools, restaurants, meeting spaces, and arrival experience.
