US-based asset manager BlackRock has appointed Rachel Lord as the chair and head of its Asia Pacific business, succeeding Geraldine Buckingham.
Lord, who most recently led the firm’s EMEA arm, will assume the new responsibility on 1 May 2021.
She took charge of the EMEA unit in 2017. Before that, she was the EMEA head of iShares and head of global clients, ETF and index investments.
She will relocate from London and operate out of Hong Kong for the new role, which is pending regulatory nod.
Meanwhile, Buckingham will remain with the business in the role of an adviser.
Prior to joining BlackRock in 2013, Lord worked at Citibank as the global head of corporate equity derivatives. She has been working at Citigroup since 2009.
