Tjandra joins Barclays Wealth from Goldman Sachs, where he has spent 15 years in various roles, including as co-head of the Hong Kong office and head of the Taiwan Desk.
Barclays Wealth recently reported a four-fold increase in its private investment banking services among clients from Greater China. In response to this growth, Barclay’s Wealth had decided to set up a Greater China desk based in Singapore as part of its market strategy for the Asia-Pacific in 2012.
Barclays Wealth has created a new role for the ex-Goldman Sachs executive manager: he will assume overall responsibility for the Greater China coverage teams in Hong Kong and will focus on expanding the high net worth client base of Barclays Wealth.
Barclays Wealth claims that the new appointment points to Barclay’s success "in attracting senior private banking talent" and claims that the company will continue to focus on Greater China as part of its overall key Asia-Pacific market strategy in 2012, as it seeks to more than double its assets under management in the region in the next three years.
