Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) has appointed Peter Chan as the new CEO for its Taiwan operations, replacing Terry King who has decided to retire after a 36-year banking career.
Chan will assume the new role on 2 January 2017, subject to ANZ Taiwan board and regulatory approvals.
He joined ANZ in 2008, serving in several senior institutional roles in Australia, Hong Kong and the Greater China region at the bank, including head of institutional banking in Taiwan.
Chan currently serves as ANZ Philippines CEO, and will be succeeded in this role by ANZ head of local corporates Philippines Charles Rodriguez.
ANZ group executive international Farhan Faruqui said: “Peter is a seasoned institutional banker with a deep knowledge of Taiwan, Hong Kong, Greater China and the broader region. His significant international experience will be a tremendous asset to our customers and our business as we sharpen our focus on Institutional Banking.”
King will continue to serve as a non-executive director of ANZ Taiwan’s board, and will work with Chan in an ongoing consulting capacity.
