The US banking and payments industry registered a 0.2% rise in IT hiring activity in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
The industry’s overall hiring decreased by 1.24% in July 2021 compared with June 2021.
Out of the banking and payments industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 13.83% share in July 2021, recording an increase of 0.85% over the last three-month average share.

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.65% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US banking and payments industry in July 2021.

Top five banking and payments companies in the US IT recruitment activity in July 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 12.51% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US banking and payments industry during July 2021 over June 2021.
JPMorgan Chase posted 734 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a drop of 28.67% over the previous month, followed by Citizens Financial Group with 730 jobs and a 20.57% drop. Affiliated Managers Group with 522 IT jobs and Wells Fargo with 391 jobs, recorded a 1.51% drop and a 22.57% increase, respectively, while Capital One Financial recorded a 15.66% an increase with 288 job postings during July 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 55.7%, down by 22.63% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 33.08% share, a decline of 13.05% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.19% share, down 33.39% over June 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 3.03%, recording a month-on-month increase of 5.3%.
