July 2021 has seen an increase of 8.4% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 12.65% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2021, registering decrease of 1.09% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 57.74% in July 2021, a 13.73% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 18.64% in July 2021, marking a 44.9% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 9.19% in July 2021, a 20.45% drop from June 2021.

Top five banking and payments companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 8.33% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s banking and payments industry during July 2021 over previous month.
Citigroup posted 54 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a decline of 14.29% over the previous month, followed by JPMorgan Chase with 48 jobs and a 2.04% drop. AIA Group with 40 IT jobs and Banco de Credito e Inversiones with 35 jobs, recorded an 81.82% growth and a 23.91% drop, respectively, while Banco Santander recorded a flat growth with 18 job postings during July 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s banking and payments industry
Peru commanded a leading presence in the region’s banking and payments industry IT hiring activity with a 21.26% share in July 2021, an 8% rise over June 2021. Argentina featured next with a 14.44% share, flat growth over the previous month. Chile recorded a 13.65% share, a drop of 8.77% compared with June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 65.62%, down by 4.58% from June 2021. Senior positions with a 15.75% share, a growth of 25% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 10.5% share, down 28.57% over June 2021, while Entry Level postings accounted for 8.14%, recording a month-on-month decline of 35.42%.
