June 2021 has seen an increase of 4.14% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 14.23% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2021, registering an increase of 0.26% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in June 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 50.37% in June 2021, a 1.46% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 18.66% in June 2021, marking a 13.64% month-on-month an increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 14.18% in June 2021, a 22.58% growth from May 2021.

Top five banking and payments companies in Middle East & Africa’s IT recruitment activity in June 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 24.9% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s banking and payments industry during June 2021 over previous month.
Sanlam posted 112 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a an increase of 12% over the previous month, followed by FirstRand with 85 jobs and a 60.38% growth. Discovery with 51 IT jobs and Nedbank Group with 40 jobs, recorded a 30.77% growth and a 5.26% increase, respectively, while Banco Santander recorded a 22.58% an increase with 38 job postings during June 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s banking and payments industry
South Africa commanded a leading presence in the region’s banking and payments industry IT hiring activity with a 73.32% share in June 2021, a 9.78% rise over May 2021. Israel featured next with a 7.84% share, flat growth over the previous month. Angola recorded a 7.09% share, a growth of 40.74% compared with May 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.99%, down by 6.28% from May 2021. Mid Level positions with a 27.43% share, a growth of 36.11% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.4% share, up 36.36% over May 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.19%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
