July 2021 has seen an increase of 1.3% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 14.35% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2021, registering an increase of 0.02% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 52.26% in July 2021, a 4.33% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 17.42% in July 2021, marking a 16.49% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 13.76% in July 2021, a 4.92% growth from June 2021.

Top five banking and payments companies in Middle East & Africa’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 6.46% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s banking and payments industry during July 2021 over previous month.
FirstRand posted 76 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Discovery with 64 jobs and a 20.75% growth. Sanlam with 58 IT jobs and Capitec Bank Holdings with 42 jobs, recorded a 50% decline and an 110% increase, respectively, while Standard Bank Group recorded a 20.69% increase with 35 job postings during July 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s banking and payments industry
South Africa commanded a leading presence in the region’s banking and payments industry IT hiring activity with a 73.12% share in July 2021, a 13.49% decline over June 2021. Israel featured next with a 10.75% share, up 16.28% over the previous month. United Arab Emirates recorded a 3.23% share, a growth of 66.67% compared with June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 64.3%, up by 3.1% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 26.45% share, a decline of 16.33% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.25% share, up 7.5% over June 2021.
