The industry’s overall hiring an increased by 10.71% in May 2021 compared with April 2021.
Out of the banking and payments industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 11.33% share in May 2021, recording an increase of 0.5% over the last three-month average share.

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 96.96% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada banking and payments industry in May 2021.

Top five banking and payments companies in Canada IT recruitment activity in May 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 47.67% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada banking and payments industry during May 2021 over April 2021.
Royal Bank of Canada posted 305 IT jobs in May 2021 and registered a rise of 208.08% over the previous month, followed by The Bank of Nova Scotia with 278 jobs and a 5.7% growth. Bank of Montreal with 97 IT jobs and Dai-ichi Life Holdings with 75 jobs, recorded a 27.63% growth and a 66.67% increase, respectively, while Desjardins Group recorded an 8% decline with 69 job postings during May 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.74%, up by 6.73% from April 2021. Mid Level positions with a 22.84% share, a growth of 82.87% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.39% share, up 119.35% over April 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.04%, recording a month-on-month an increase of 50%.
