Bahrain-based alternative investment manager Investcorp has appointed Laura Coquis as global head of Institutions, effective immediately.

Coquis will be based in London and will lead the firm’s capital raising initiatives across international institutional market.

She will also focus on delivering capital formation strategies and solutions to drive ‘industry-leading outcomes’ for Investcorp’s diverse range of institutional clients.

Commenting on the appointment, Investcorp executive chairman Mohammed Alardhi said: “Our relationships with institutional clients continue to go from strength to strength, with investors drawn to our tailored approach and diversified portfolio. Coquis have over 20 years of experience in capital formation, investor relations, and investment banking.

She has been focused on the design and implementation of institutional capital formation and investor relations strategies for private markets firms since 2008.

She was most recently a partner at Aviditi Advisors.

During her early career, Coquis has served as finance and M&A roles at Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch in London, Sydney and New York.

Investcorp, which oversees $37.6bn in assets, specialises in private equity, real estate, credit management and absolute return investments.

In March this year, the firm appointed Mohammed Al Sada as head of its private wealth for Bahrain and Kuwait.

Last December, it acquired a minority stake in private equity firm Centre Lane Partners through its Strategic Capital Group,  which purchases holdings in midsize general partners.
