July 2021 has seen a decrease of 0.81% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 13.84% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2021, registering an increase of 0.98% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 64.55% in July 2021, a 15.76% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 14.46% in July 2021, marking a 21.99% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 8.78% in July 2021, a 30.03% drop from June 2021.

Top five banking and payments companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 13.39% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s banking and payments industry during July 2021 over previous month.
Citizens Financial Group posted 741 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a decline of 20.49% over the previous month, followed by JPMorgan Chase with 734 jobs and a 28.67% drop. Affiliated Managers Group with 584 IT jobs and Wells Fargo with 391 jobs, recorded a 2.83% decline and a 22.57% increase, respectively, while Societe Generale recorded a 1.79% decline with 384 job postings during July 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s banking and payments industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s banking and payments industry IT hiring activity with an 80.99% share in July 2021, a 20.13% decline over June 2021. Canada featured next with a 14.18% share, down 9.15% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 4.82% share, a drop of 0.36% compared with June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 56.75%, down by 19.41% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 32.68% share, a decline of 11.66% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 7.9% share, down 33.38% over June 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 2.67%, recording a month-on-month growth of 2.71%.
