The UK banking and payments industry registered a 7.2% rise in IT hiring activity in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 7.03% in July 2021 compared with June 2021.
Out of the banking and payments industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 17.94% share in July 2021, recording decrease of 0.38% over the last three-month average share.

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.53% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK banking and payments industry in July 2021.

Top five banking and payments companies in the UK IT recruitment activity in July 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 9.63% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK banking and payments industry during July 2021 over June 2021.
JPMorgan Chase posted 179 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a drop of 16.36% over the previous month, followed by Barclays with 106 jobs and a 41.33% growth. Citigroup with 71 IT jobs and Visa with 46 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 12.2% increase, respectively, while NatWest Group recorded a 950% increase with 42 job postings during July 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 72.14%, up by 3.76% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with an 18.46% share, a growth of 3.67% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 5.31% share, up 12.07% over June 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 4.08%, recording a month-on-month decline of 21.88%.
