May 2021 has seen an increase of 18.39% in the overall hiring activity when compared with April 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 13.48% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2021, registering an increase of 0.35% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 62.47% in May 2021, a 45.12% growth over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 18.37% in May 2021, marking a 7.69% month-on-month an increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 8.14% in May 2021, a flat growth from April 2021.

Top five banking and payments companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in May 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 64.52% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s banking and payments industry during May 2021 over previous month.
Banco BTG Pactual posted 66 IT jobs in May 2021 and registered a an increase of 200% over the previous month, followed by Banco de Credito e Inversiones with 40 jobs and a 29.82% drop. JPMorgan Chase with 36 IT jobs and AIA Group with 33 jobs, recorded an 18.18% decline and a 3200% increase, respectively, while Banco Santander recorded a flat growth with 29 job postings during May 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s banking and payments industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s banking and payments industry IT hiring activity with a 24.67% share in May 2021, an 118.6% rise over April 2021. Peru featured next with a 14.96% share, down 8.06% over the previous month. Chile recorded a 13.91% share, a drop of 8.62% compared with April 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 76.38%, up by 31.67% from April 2021. Mid Level positions with a 10.76% share, a growth of 86.36% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Senior job ads with 7.61% share, down 19.44% over April 2021, while Entry Level postings accounted for 5.25%, recording a month-on-month growth of 66.67%.
