31,699 jobs posted in the period from 4 April 2021 to 10 April 2021 according to the GlobalData job analytics tool. This represents a 2.92% decrease from the previous weeks total of 32,652 jobs.
JP Morgan retained its top spot with 1901 jobs posted, up 322 from last week. This was followed by Citigroup with 1521, Banamex with 1508 and Wells Fargo & Co with 1427.
JP Morgan hit the headlines this week following the announcement of a new European Super League (ESL), which the investment bank had promised to inject £4.8bn into. The announcement was poorly received by fans and politicians alike, and all six English clubs subsequently pulled out.
Journalist Niels Pratley embraced the opportunity to juxtapose the banks support for the ESL and its supposed sense of community, outlined in the chief executive’s recent letter to shareholders: “It is hard to spot any sense of localism or community in the backing of an exercise in short-term greed that is grubby even by modern football’s standards” Pratley argued.
Citi, once again in second place, also made the news this week as it joined a community of 43 banks in the new Net Zero Banking Alliance. The alliance also becomes part of the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ), chaired by Mark Carney, a group of over 160 firms responsible for assets more than $70trn.
The NZBA is convened by the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative and co-launched by the Prince of Wales’ Sustainable Markets Initiative Financial Services Taskforce.
