There were 18,537 jobs posted in the period 24 January 2021 to 30 January 2021 according to the GlobalData jobs analytics tool. This represents a further 0.78% decrease from the previous weeks total of 18,683. This was the second week that the number of jobs posted declined, despite expectations of a growing number of firms looking to recruit more staff.

JP Morgan topped the tables once more with 1043 job postings – 310 fewer than the previous week. JP Morgan were followed by Banco Nacional de Mexico SA, Wells Fargo and Citigroup with 984, 536 and 534 postings, respectively.

Of the 536 jobs posted by new a top-four contender – Wells Fargo – only 7 were for senior positions, or 1.3%. Mid-level roles dominated the postings with 211 positions, followed by 183 entry-level jobs and 135 junior jobs.

In the Q4 2020 trading results, the wealth and investment management (WIM) arm of Wells Fargo demonstrated resilience in a challenging market, reporting a 157% year-on-year surge in Q4 2020 net income. Overall, the group recorded a mixed performance, with net income rising 4%, although revenue fell 10%.

In attempts to cut costs, Wells Fargo announced early in January that it was exiting the offshore wealth management market to focus on US resident clients. Unsurprisingly, therefore, the greatest number of jobs posted by Wells Fargo were in North America at 374. This was followed by 142 in Asia Pacific, 19 in Europe and 1 in Middle East and Africa.

Overall, the highest number of jobs posted were in North America with 749 roles. Europe was second with 639 jobs, followed by Asia Pacific with 436, South and Central America with 217 and Middle East and Africa with 203.
