Jefferies, a US-based provider of wealth management, investment banking and advisory services, has named Jonathan Slone as the new chairman for its Asia business.
As Asia chairman, Slone will manage the firm’s major relationships for investment banking and trading in the region, operating out of Hong Kong.
Slone joins from CLSA, where he worked for more than 30 years.
At CLSA, he served as the chairman and CEO with responsibility for global broking, investment banking, asset management, research and sales.
The latest appointment continues Jefferies’ recent hiring activity in Asia.
Among the firm’s newly hired personnel is Christopher Wood as global head of equity strategy and Desh Peramunetilleke as head of microstrategy product.

Lately, Jefferies also hired 54 sales, trading, research and investment banking staff in Australia, Japan and Hong Kong.
