Nominations are now being accepted for the 2009 Private
Banker International Global Wealth Awards.
Considered to be the most prestigious accolades in the wealth
industry for excellence and best practice, winners are due to be
announced this October.
The awards are particularly relevant this
year, as the wealth industry adapts to the most testing period in
global private banking’s recent history.
The attrition in client managed assets, the
string of huge banking mergers and acquisitions and the effective
state-control of a number of leading institutions in the US and
Europe mean that this year there are likely to be sweeping changes
in the way that wealth leaders are perceived.
The flight to quality by concerned clients
means that medium-sized and even smaller institutions and boutiques
have made huge gains at the cost of their larger rivals.
The editors of PBI are now opening up
the nomination process for the awards. PBI’s worldwide
readership of wealth professionals are invited to submit
nominations in the various categories.

By GlobalDataThese tributes to the best-of-breed players
aim, above all, to be fair and objective benchmarks for the global
private banking and wealth management businesses as a whole. The
awards have been created to identify industry leaders and those
individuals and organisations that are setting new standards.
Crucially, they will identify the best
practice institutions – those that have done the most in the past
year to advance and strengthen wealth management as an
industry.
The criteria for the awards include the
ability of institutions to demonstrate a clear and unique strategy
to position and grow their business, regionally or globally, those
that have made the most investment in people and systems to develop
their business; those showing most innovation in products/services;
those with demonstrably superior client services and customer
relationship management skills; and institutions that have
strengthened and extended the global reach of their brands.
PBI’s readers are consequently asked
to submit nominations for their chosen institution and/or
individual and reasons for their choices in the various categories.
This, of course, allows for nominations from your own institution,
telling us the reasons you think that your company qualifies for
our awards programme. From the nominations, three institutions or
individuals will be short-listed for each award. The final
selection will be made by PBI’s advisory board, made up of
independent specialists in wealth management in the leading
financial centres (see below for details and how to
nominate).
