ABN AMRO MeesPierson, the private banking arm of ABN AMRO in the Netherlands, has appointed Jos ter Avest as their new chief executive, Private Banker International can reveal.
Avest has been chairman of the Supervisory Board for the last three years, as a part of ABN AMRO’s Clearing Bank in the Netherlands, and previously worked extensively at the bank’s commercial division and private bank.
His predecessor, Frans von Lanscot, will step down on the first of December to serve as the managing board’s senior advisor, focussing mainly on larger private banking and commercial clients.
A member of the Retail and Private Banking Managing Board, Chris Vogelzang said: ‘Jos is a highly experienced banker and private banker, and I am delighted he has been appointed to this position. I am very grateful to Frans for this success in leading the integration and in introducing the new investment service.’
