Asset management group LGT has established a digital development facility in Barcelona in April 2023 to speed up its digitalisation activities.
After 18 months of development and expansion, the group has officially formed “LGT Digital Factory (Spain) S.L.” as a subsidiary with over 20 workers.

In close cooperation with GFT, a global leader and adviser in digital transformation, LGT has built the “LGT Incubator and Accelerator Centre” in Barcelona as an unique digital hub to provide the competencies needed to successfully implement its digitalisation strategy.
The hub has evolved gradually since its spring 2023 launch; the first digital items were successfully released in recent months, and there are many more in the works.
Moreover, Michael Bernhard Schwieter has been appointed over as CEO of this new LGT Group company on 1 October 2024. Schwieter has been instrumental in the inception and continuous improvement of the digital hub.
Walter Giger, head of global IT at LGT, stated: “This is an important milestone for us. I am proud that LGT and GFT have jointly and very successfully laid the organisational foundations in Barcelona to deliver innovative IT products that can and will continue to help us grow. And it is great to see that Barcelona has already become synonymous with agile projects and digital game changers within LGT all around the world.”

Furthermore, in September, LGT Wealth India, a private wealth management firm within the LGT Group, strengthened its wealth planning capabilities with the appointment of Poonam Mirchandani as managing director for the wealth planning & family solutions division.
Based in Mumbai, Mirchandani will work with the LGT Wealth India team to expand its offerings in succession and estate planning. She will also help with wealth management, global mobility, and philanthropy.
